'Understanding Yourself'
The Understanding Yourself workshop is an intimate group of between 6 and 10 persons which provides a supportive and comfortable atmosphere in which to think about who we are, how we got to be who we are and where we want to be.
Through a weekend of discussion, study and ‘mild activity’ the workshop is designed to help you start to re-appraise your life and look at ways in which you can create change and move towards a more positive future that will contribute to all round health and well being.
The workshop starts with dinner at 6pm Friday and ends with coffee 5pm Sunday and will cover:-
A bit of a nark! Emotions, emotional response and listening to your self.
Rose coloured glasses! How we see ourselves. Honest self reflection.
A stitch in time! When does a problem become a problem?
Deaf to all ears! The importance of listening.
Give me a child till it’s seven! Present responses, past learning. |
The weekend workshop consists of two nights stay, breakfast, light lunch and evening meal and five workshop sessions, plus an outdoor activity.

'Exploring Strategies for Life Change'
The Exploring Strategies for Life Change Workshop is a group of between 6 and 10 persons which provides a supportive and comfortable atmosphere in which to think about who we are, how we got to be who we are and where we want to be.
Through a weekend of discussion, study and ‘mild activity’ the workshop is designed to help you start to re-appraise your life and look at ways in which you can create change and move towards a more positive future that will contribute to all round health and well being.
This workshop can be studied independently or as a follow on from the Understanding ourself weekend workshop. It starts with dinner at 6pm Thursday and ends with coffee 5pm Sunday. It will cover:-
A bit of a lark! Exploring how to use emotions positively.
Cleaning the mirrors. Honest self-reflection and planning change.
Tuning into life. Listening with meaning .
Who me? How self-awareness can help to connect with others.
The importance of saying no. Having control over your own life.
A little bit of what you fancy. Learning to ditch guilt.
Sewing a good seam! Exploring avenues to build self-confidence?
Children and adults. Past experience and strategies for change. |
The workshop consists of three nights stay, breakfast, light lunch and evening meal, and eight workshop sessions, a discussion session over three course dinner, plus an outdoor activity.

Mary is an experienced Adult Education Lecturer and Advocate and has taught on Women’s Access, Counselling courses and as a Staff Development Trainer for Derbyshire County Council disability services.
